Everything went smoothly. They brought in the bag of cells and it only took about an hr before they were all in and everything was over. It was crazy, when you turned the lights off and shined a light on the tube, you could actually see the cells going in. It looked like a million little bubbles. Nurses said his was the most concentrated they had seen, so hopefully those babies will get in there and make some new bone marrow quickly so we can go home!
Another interesting thing that happened during the process was that the cells stunk. The preservative they are stored in makes the room smell like creamed corn. The nurses were all joking about it, and boy they were right. And the taste in Kyle's mouth at first was almost overwhelming. captured perfectly in the video below. Orbit seemed to do the trick though.
Now we just wait. Next week his immune system will be bottomed out, so they will have to watch him carefully and he'll probably feel like he has the flu for a week or two. Lots of sleeping I suspect. But after that, it's uphill! Most patients get discharged between day +12 and +18. We're at day +1 today. But we're here to set the record for the fastest discharge. Wish us luck!

Go Kyle! I hope those 12-18 days go by quickly for y'all.
