hey there long runs...

it's been a while. This morning I welcomed you back into my Saturday morning routines as I kicked off training for the Savannah Marathon this week!  I have been UNmotivated to run any further than 9 miles all summer.  So 13 today was a little tiring, but felt good.

It was my first experience running with the fb group-- BTC (Birmingham Track Club) Saturday morning long runs....and I don't understand why I haven't been doing this before now.  Water stops, lots of people, and a nice early start time that I would never get up and do on my own.... hello! It was awesome!  I don't think I could have survived without the ice cold gatorade and water every 3-4 miles.  Lifesaver on this humid morning.  I literally had to wring out my clothes. Gross.

I'm following the Run Less Run Faster training plan again because I love that it's only 3 hard days of running a week, and the other 2-3 days are cross training.  And I love to bike and swim.  Hello pre-work swims. I've missed you too.

I have to say, this morning at 5am the last thing I wanted to do was eat something before the run.  Maybe it was the combination of the Indian food (Groupons you rock!) and the steel city pops from last night.  Which, by the way, are delicious! And would be VERY tempting after a long day at the pool.  Which I'm about to do.  And then nap.

  1. I'm so happy we discovered that group yesterday! Fueling on long runs = solved! And it felt nice and safe with all those people. Usually I feel really freaked out running that bit in front of the mall, but Saturday, it seemed like no big deal. Starting RLRF tomorrow. Maybe I will even swim on cross training days. Yikes! I might need you to teach me.:)
