On the road again

For our anniversary I got some clips/shoes for my bike! Finally.  I really can't believe I haven't gotten them before now.  Didn't really understand what a necessity they are.  My thoughts?...  I LOVE love love them.  25 miles has never felt so easy!  Maybe it was the fact that the first 12 weren't up a canyon either.

Friday night I practiced over and over unclipping and stopping up and down our street.  Kyle definitely was a good coach and caught me from falling a few times.  But yes, I did fall. Twice. My elbow and leg are proof. We were hot and sweaty, and had a good laugh by the end of the night.  I had his approval to go on a ride Saturday morning though!

So I met Steph up in Trussville and we rode 26 miles down hwy 11.  aka- the beautiful, scenic, country hwy with little traffic.  AWESOME.  Felt so great to get on the bike again.  I'm craving it already and never letting myself go this long without a bike ride again!

Anyone wanna go for a bike ride this week in the 100 degree weather?!  I'm already hating myself for not getting my butt out of bed this morning to run before the hottness from you know where set in.

  1. Ok my girlfriends out here want to do a tri (the ones that just finished the half I was supposed to do) and want to start road biking now...they're telling me I should sell my mountain bike and get a road bike! AHHHH I'm so torn! I won't be doing any mountain biking out here because I don't know any trails out here and Steve and I will never be able to go together (joys of having a little rugrat!) but when I think about selling it, my heart aches. AHH what to do?! This makes me want to get one...

    1. ohhh man. I would say sell it and get a road bike, but if were roles were reversed and someone told me to sell my road bike to get a mnt bike, I'd be so upset. It's like you have a personal connection to the bike! haha But if you don't have any trails, then that's a bummer and you can't use it anyways...think about where y'all are going to end up after schooling...you can't use a mnt bike everywhere, but you can a road bike. That's a plus! Plus w/ road bikes you get to do tris which are such a blast! That's the main reason I bike.
