Last Monday I contacted a breeder for a Norfolk Terrier that was an hour away to see if she was having a litter this summer. She emailed me back and told me that she was! And the puppies would be here in May. Perfect timing. The next day she sent me a note and said that she did have a 5 year old Norwich Terrier up for adoption though if we were interested. Hmmm. So the conversation went on all week as we exchanged questions, lifestyles, habits, and interests of both parties-- us and the dog. She wanted to make sure she was going to go to a good home.
We had never really considered adopting a dog, but we figured it was worth a shot to at least go meet her and the breeder. What did we have to lose, right? We "were just going to look at her."
We got there and sweet little Nacho (the name is the only thing I don't love about her) was looking at us with her cute brown eyes and stole our hearts. Kyle quickly turned to me and said, "we're taking her home tonight." And this picture perfectly describes how I was feeling.

Nervous. We didn't have a crate, food, leash, or anything when we left with Nacho last night. It breaks my heart thinking we took her from her home (of 20 other dogs and several horses on a huge farm in Tuscaloosa), but she needed a new home and more attention. Her mom was an award winning show dog, and this little pup has been very well taken care of! Almost too well. She has a few pounds she could lose. But we like her little pot belly!

awww! congratulations! he is too cute. i hope you have a great week!

oh. my. gosh. absolutely adorable! and now you don't have to potty train her (which is the worst part) I remember when we brought Mia home we were "just looking" and didn't have anything, but it all works out in the end :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Yay! Yay! I love Nacho so much already! I was talking to my mom when you called me back, then I had dinner and forgot to call you back. Now it's almost 10 there and I'm worried you're settled down for the night. Let's have a phone date this week. I'm so happy for you guys!!!! And super envious.
