Cronuts & Wafles

Saturday we woke up and headed to get in line for the popular cronut that was "invented" in NYC by Dominique Ansel.  Turns out we got really lucky bc we didn't wake up at 5am and still made it in time to get one.  The 1.5 hour wait in line really wasn't worth it though. It was overrated, as expected, but the experience was fun.

Ready for some real breakfast we headed to Clinton Street Bakery where the wait was 2.5 hours! Craziness.  So we put our names in and headed to the 9/11 memorial to pass the time.  The 9/11 memorial was so surreal.  It's hard to look around and imagine what that day must have been like in the city.  I cannot even imagine the devastation and disaster. The memorial was beautiful and one day I can't wait to go back to the museum.

That afternoon we walked along the Brooklyn Bridge and I might have day dreamed a little about running the New York City Marathon.  Now I understand just how amazing that race really would be!  The bridge was fun and view was amazing. When we got to Brooklyn we ate some ice cream, rested our feet, then headed back into town on the water ferry.  That night we ate at Cafe Habana (the corn was delish!) and toured around a little more--- seeing the Empire Hotel, the temple, Lincoln Center, and making a stop at Trader Joes.

My only regret:not seeing the NYC Ballet.  whyyyyyyy didn't I think to do this?

We finished off the night indulging at the Wafles and Dinges food truck.  Belgium waffles with nutella and strawberries?!  yes please! It was definitely my favorite treat we ate on the trip.  Well, that and the double chocolate cookie from Levain.
