Last weekend Stephanie and I competed in the Fall Creek Falls triathlon. It was SO FUN. The state park is in eastern Tennessee and it was absolutely gorgeous! Overall I loved the race. It was a smaller race, but well organized.
The 1 mile swim seemed a little longer than I remembered from my past tris. But the lake was clean and warm, so I was fine with it.
The bike course was great. Lots of small rolling hills, but I would take that over a couple steep hills any day. It was an out and back course which I really enjoy bc I know what's coming and exactly when I reach the half way point. I was able to find a couple of ppl to keep up with and push myself with too which is always fun.
Then comes the run. I'm a stronger runner than cyclist, so I try to save some energy to pull ahead at the end. This 10k run was definitely a tough one. The first 2.5 miles seemed all uphill and on the trails at the park. Really pretty, but felt difficult. By mile 3, I was on a roll though. My legs were in the running mode and it seemed to level out. The end of the run course took us on the paved trail around the lake and I loved it.
Finished 2:43 and 4th in my age group. Soooo close to top 3. One day.
