what's next?

Let's talk running. and swimming. and biking. Yes, I'm craving another triathlon. It's almost been a year since the last one, and since my marathon I've been going through the whole "post-race-I-don't-like-working-out-without-a-plan-telling-me-exactly-what-to-do" syndrome. It's bad I tell you.

For instance, Friday I woke up and went to the gym to run before work. Distance was undecided at this point. I thought I would run around 4 miles. Luckily I ran into a *gym friend who's training for Boston who told me she was running 14 miles (on a treadmill, yes) and then 21 on Sunday. Wow. I felt like such a loser. So I did 5 miles. gah. I need motivation people!

I did escape the hospital for a little bit on Saturday morning and did the most marvelous 9-miler ever. Weather was beyond perfect. It's in the 80s here all week. Heavenly. However, every Saturday I see all the cyclist taking off on their bikes from the same parking lot I'm in and I'm torn. I need to get back on the bike and sign up for a tri. Life is just too unpredictable right now. I am doing the Lake Allatoona sprint in June though. Yes. yes. yes. GA people, you in?

I saw this picture on pinterest friday night, and ran 9 miles sat. (motivating much?) why did my training for the marathon not give me these abs?

*gym friend: a person you notice at the gym more than 3 times a week, the same time you are there. it's like you know each other, but you don't. one day you decide to say hello, and you talk every day since then. someone you work out with.

  1. 14 and 21 this weekend...that's a hardcore runner friend! She'll put anyone to shame.

I pretty much never end up working out the same time or day of the week, except for the Saturday morning long runs. Schedule flip flopping back and fourth between days/nights makes it difficult to be consistent, which is tough because I am a creature of habit usually. So I suppose I've just gotten used to running whenever my schedule seems to fit with it.

  2. I end up at the gym at pretty odd times (I hate strength training so I'm there on a semi-regular basis. I should be there on a more regular basis, but I do what I can) and I end up in my own little zone, so I never recognize anyone. 14 miles on a treadmill is seriously hardcore...I think i wold go nuts!
