saturday's high & a funny t-shirt

This morning we went out for the first really long run of the year. A 20-miler. And it was awesome! I'm still on my runner's high, can you tell? The pain is not nearly as intense on my joints and there's still a month to go! wahoo!!! So, on with the training! Did I mention I got some fun running gear for Christmas that I l.o.v.e. Naturally, I had to take a picture in honor of my new arm warmers, right? right.

Kyle told me I looked intense w/ the arm warmers. I say you can wear whatever you want while training for a marathon. especially cool running gear. hello. it helps.

You might see this outfit again on race day bc today was a trial run. I've been told not to change a THING on race day. Not your headband, sports bra, watch, shirt, shorts, socks, shoes, gu, drink, anything. You don't want any surprises or your shirt rubbing you raw around mile 24. ouch.

Oh and for the record, the training here this "winter" has been perfect! A tank top and capris in January? yes please! I did sport my BYU wind breaker for the first 10 miles because the rain was threatening us. But glad to say it never followed through.

FUNNIEST thing I saw while running today... and worth a mention on the blog no doubt... an african american woman in her 30s, overweight, walking on the trail wearing a shirt very similar to this

Annndd she was WALKING. slow. bahahah.

And last but not least, a word of advice:

  5. Hey! Great job on the 20-miler! You are so right about trying new gear. I wore new socks at my marathon in November, and it made me lose a toenail. Not cool! The arm warmers are keepers. Love them.
