We've known for days that it's been coming. The bitter cold temperatures and snow. But at some point today the winter storm warning turned into a BLIZZARD warning. I thought it was just a little of an exaggeration as I sat at my office looking outside all day and not seeing 1 snowflake, but I slowly started getting nervous.
Utah State got cancelled. Then the U of U, then BYU, then offices, and then everything was closing. We were all advised to go home early because once this storm hit, it would be about 15 minutes before a total white-out. And salt wouldn't touch this stuff. And it could take 4x as long to get home. And KSL went on and on...
Apparently, there has not been a blizzard warning in the state of UT in 10 years, so I consider this a record and worth a blog post since I am still here to experience this. I hope it's not as big of a deal as it has been made into all day. I pray I can get to work tomorrow. (I made it home only to be accompanied by lots of wind, thankfully!)
So in 5, going on 6 years of living here, nothing has ever been closed because of snow. I seriously had to question if I was in UT or GA. Because with all the drama of this blizzard, I feel like I am in GA again just waiting for the snow. Quick, go get bread and milk because it's likely we will be snowed in...forever!
I know! It was crazy! Then Provo didn't even get anything.
